Shea-Porter is a leader

Fosters

Oct. 10 - To the Editor:

If you are a New Hampshire Democrat, chances are you have Republican friends. You’ve probably struggled with how to talk with them about their party leaders. We seem to be living in an era in which far too many “good men do nothing.” (The full quote, sometimes attributed to Irish statesman Edmund Burke: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.")

It’s more than time to speak out.

That’s just what Carol Shea-Porter has done about Trump’s latest. And she’s called out Frank Guinta for not doing the same. Shea-Porter is “absolutely” the role model I would choose. She stands resolutely for her values and doesn’t hesitate to act on them.

Politicians who seek election should look in the mirror and honestly answer the question, "Is this the face of a leader who can take us into the future?" We talk about the aging of New Hampshire. If we wish to attract and keep younger residents and vibrant businesses, we have to walk the walk about issues that matter to them. What are some of those issues?

Equality of rights and opportunities; universal background checks for gun purchases; climate change; freedom of choice; and policies to create debt-free college.

Carol has demonstrated her commitment to those goals. She has earned my confidence as a leader for a New Hampshire of tomorrow. Make your voice heard on November 8. Vote for Shea-Porter.
