Shea-Porter Stands Up for Animals

Shea-Porter stands up for animals

I’m voting for Carol Shea-Porter in November because she stands up “for the rest of us” – including our animal friends.

Carol’s record on animal protection is proven. In 2014, she earned a 100 percent rating from the Humane Society Legislative Fund, who named her a Humane Champion. Among her many accomplishments while in Congress, she co-sponsored legislation like the Animal Fighting Spectator Prohibition Act, to criminalize attendance at dogfights, and the Prevent All Soring Tactics Act, to protect show horses from chemicals designed to make them compete better.

Carol also fights to make sure the government keeps its word when it comes to animal protection. Even when a law is in place, Congress can – and often does – refuse to make sure it takes full effect. Carol consistently worked to make sure these laws have the resources they need to be effective.

For example, she supported funding to help animals in natural disasters and to enforce our nation’s most critical animal protection laws, such as the Animal Welfare Act. When she returns to Congress in January, I know she’ll continue this important work.

I’m proud to support Carol for Congress. She’s the voice we need in Washington to stand up for animals.
