Veterans and Military Families for Progress Endorses Carol Shea-Porter

Rochester, NH— Today, Carol Shea-Porter received the endorsement of Veterans and Military Families for Progress (VMFP). Founded in 2005, VMFP works to ensure that the needs of veterans, active duty service members, and their families are understood by the American public and supported by legislation, regulations, and public policy initiatives.

“Former Congresswoman Carol Shea-Porter is a strong supporter of our nation’s veterans and active armed forces. While serving in the House of Representatives on the Armed Services Committee Carol Shea-Porter clearly demonstrated her determination to work on behalf of our nation’s active military and veterans by supporting legislation that would benefit all of our active military men and women and veterans. Ms. Shea-Porter’s strong commitment to the issues that are critical to veterans, those serving now, and their families is unsurpassed. Her public support for priority funding of the Veterans Administration and her declared determination to provide for the establishment of a national veterans and military family policy give all veterans and their families, especially those who are living in New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District, hope that they will continue to have a Congresswoman who will vote in such a way as to keep faith with those who have served and sacrificed. We feel that veterans, active duty, military families, and in fact, all people of New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District will be well-served with Carol Shea-Porter as their representative by ensuring that America remains strong in national defense and in fighting terrorism,” saidVMFP in their endorsement of Carol Shea-Porter.

As the daughter of a World War II veteran and the spouse of a veteran, Carol Shea-Porter has a deep and personal understanding of the commitment and sacrifice our service members make every day. She successfully expanded access to services at the VA in Manchester, voted for the Choice Card for vets, and was an original cosponsor of the Post-9/11 GI Bill. She’s been instrumental in passing legislation to create jobs for veterans and ensure that they get the benefits they’ve earned.

“I am honored to have earned the support of Veterans and Military Families for Progress. I’m a former military spouse, and I’m proud of my husband’s service. The problems at the VA must be fixed and we must ensure that our veterans have access to care and get the benefits they’ve earned. I was proud to vote for increased funding for medical care, PTSD research, and claims processors because veterans should never have to wait for care or the benefits they deserve. I was also proud to be an original cosponsor of the Post-9/11 GI Bill of Rights to ensure that veterans returning home from their service have jobs and educational opportunities,” saidCarol Shea-Porter.
